“Run!” Cinda screamed. “Run! You stupid idiot!”
Still the child looked at her, eyes wide with fear, clutching a stuffed doll to her chest. Cinda breathed in sharply, she was still too far away to reach the girl. There were many cries for help as people came running. But they were mere specks on the brown background of the dry mountainside. She skidded to a stop and raised her palm. Sparks fizzled.
